With various educational facilities and all-level degree programs at an affordable cost, Germany has become one of the most sought-after destinations for studying abroad.

Most universities in Germany do not charge any tuition fees for undergraduate studies. The only applicable cost would be the enrolled program's yearly administration fee. Many universities offer various scholarship programs. Hence it would be in the best interest of potential applicants to conduct additional research to receive the best available offer.

Germany also offers various scholarship programs to International students:

Deutschl and Stipendium National Scholarship Program

This program offers financial support to potential students from all around the world. The scholarship amount is allocated monthly (300 Euros) and applied for at least 2 semesters. This can likely be extended within your study period per your academic performance review by the university.

DAAD Scholarship Program

DAAD is a collaborative organization of higher education institutions in Germany and is responsible for promoting international academic relations, primarily through students, academics and research exchanges. 

This program includes scholarships and funding opportunities for foreign graduate students and scientists seeking financial support for their research or education. 

To qualify for the grant, applicants must have completed their Bachelor's degree, not more than in the last 6 years, along with at least two years of proven work experience. The monthly scholarships for postgraduate and doctorate students are €850 and €1,200, respectively.

Erasmus Scholarship Program

German universities participate in several study programs funded by the Erasmus Mundus and Erasmus+ scholarship programs. It can finance an international student attending a study program in Germany. 

To qualify for this scholarship in Germany, you should be enrolled in a higher education school/college/university. The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education must have been signed by both your home school/college/university and the German university.

Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarships in Germany

Around 1,200 scholarships/per year are awarded through this program to qualified undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and nationalities. These students should pursue their diplomas in Germany at a state-recognized university. 

Students receiving these scholarships are expected to have outstanding academic records. Non-EU students will receive a grant of €850 per month during their Master’s studies and individual allowances that may include tuition fees.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarships in Germany for International Students

This scholarship aims at promoting foreign students and doctoral candidates who have completed their undergraduate studies in their home country. Special priority will be given to students pursuing their PhD from developing countries or countries experiencing political transformation. 

Master and Postgraduate students receive a monthly scholarship of €850 for two years. Doctoral candidates and students who come to Germany from other countries for research purposes will receive a monthly scholarship of €1,100 for three years.

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to foreign applicants who are currently doing their doctorate within either a German state (such as Hamburg, Bavaria) or a state-recognized applied sciences university. 

Students receiving this scholarship are expected to have exemplary academic achievements. It can be a good option for students specialising in social sciences, politics, or humanities sectors. 

You must also have German language skills even if your degree courses are in English. Scholarship holders for undergraduate courses receive an amount of €830 per month, and those for master’s degrees receive an amount of €850 per month, including health insurance costs.

Various course options and scholarships are available for international students to choose from. These mainly depend on your potential.
